Phytoplankton, will be used to study the plant’s resiliency to climate change.</p><p></p><p>Phytoplankton is microscopic plants that float in water near the surface of the Ocean. And a URI professor just hand-delivered fresh samples of the phytoplankton taken from the Southern Ocean to URI. It’s a revolving fund that awards low interest loans to help municipalities improve their sewer and drinking water systems. For the last 19 years, its Executive Director has been Anthony Simeone. During his tenure, he grew the agency’s assets from $102 million to $1.3 billion dollars.
