That's why Island Moving's idea to trade locations with other companies is such a good thing. It allows a small but efficient troupe to not only travel the nation but brings dancers, choreographers and administrators together in what can sometimes be a kind of singular business.

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 09:23:00 +0000 Bill Gale 37062 at http://ripr.org Great Friends Dance Festival Returns To Newport New Program Helps Elderly Deal With Climate Change http://ripr.org/post/new-program-helps-elderly-deal-climate-change
A program designed to help Rhode Island's older adult population prepare for climate change threats is one of several projects that will receive federal money as part of the state's disaster recovery action plan. This program will receive $150,000 over the next two years.
Mon, 21 Jul 2014 12:53:22 +0000 Ambar Espinoza 37036 at http://ripr.org U.S. Education Secretary Duncan Praises Rhode Island http://ripr.org/post/us-education-secretary-duncan-praises-rhode-island
Rhode Island, along with all other states, is being asked to submit new “teacher equity plans,” to the U.S. Department of Education. At the Ocean State in Warwick “Guys and Dolls” – admittedly one of my all-time favorite musicals – comes across as a bifurcated project. Cowan they are handled well by a cast of good singers who know how to offer a song without seeming to force it.

Tue, 15 Jul 2014 08:10:00 +0000 Bill Gale 36717 at http://ripr.org Ocean State's "Guys and Dolls" Is Hit And Miss Lifespan Hits Employees Who Use Tobacco With Surcharge http://ripr.org/post/lifespan-hits-employees-who-use-tobacco-surcharge
Lifespan, one of Rhode Island's largest employers, is implementing a new policy that will make employees who use tobacco products pay a surcharge.

The policy will tack on an extra $600 a year to the medical benefits of any employee or spouse or domestic partner covered by company insurance who uses tobacco products.
