First meeting in Central Falls with new city council

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Central Falls City Council will meet Wednesday evening for the first time since it was reshaped by a state-appointed receiver.

State officials say receiver Mark Pfeiffer reformed the council since it was not following his policies and procedures. James Diossa was the only incumbent councilor put on the new panel.

It's fair to question the receiver's actions, said Diossa, but he also defends the reshaping of the city council.

Police officer removed from Central Falls High

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – School officials in Central Falls have taken the police officer out of Central Falls High School despite reports of fights and other discipline problems at the school.


Central Falls police say school officials decided to remove the police officer from Central Falls High School and re-assign her to the middle school.
