It’s March Madness For The PC Friars

The Providence College basketball team heads to the March Madness of the NCAA basketball tournament for the first time in 10 years. Rhode Island Public Radio's Scott MacKay spoke with PC

coach Ed Cooley at Alumni Hall Tuesday as the team practiced for Friday’s first round game in Texas against perennial basketball power, the University of North Carolina. He then joined Dave Fallon in the studio to talk college basketball.

RI ACLU Report Finds Large Racial Disparities In School Suspensions

A study of student suspensions in Rhode Island public schools in the last academic year finds large racial disparities.

According to the report by the state chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, schools suspended many more black and Hispanic students than they suspended white students for what appears to be mostly minor discipline violations.

The ACLU reports black students were suspended at the highest rate in nine years, while white students were suspended at record low rates.
