North Kingstown Facing the Impending Impact of Climate Change
Residents and businesses in the North Kingstown area are invited to a free public meeting regarding the impacts of climate change, rising tides, and flooding in the coastal communities of Rhode Island.
North Kingstown Planning Director, Jonathan Reiner, said that the meeting is designed to encourage an ongoing dialogue about coastal climate change with the community. He said the meeting will discuss ways to prepare and protect North Kingstown and other coastal towns from the inevitable impacts of rising tides.
“Get involved, be aware of what’s happening…we can give people all of the data of maps and science in the world, but it’s the policy makers and the people that we work for that help direct where we’re going to go," said Reiner.
The public meeting will be Thursday, from 6-8p.m. at the Cold Spring Community Center, 36 Beach St., in North Kingstown.
