Prime application to buy Landmark deemed incomplete
Rhode Island officials say Prime Healthcare’s application to buy Landmark Medical Center is incomplete.
The Rhode Island attorney general’s office and the Department of Health are telling Landmark and its suitor, Prime Healthcare, that Prime’s initial application to buy the struggling hospital is missing "a significant amount of information."
A spokeswoman for the attorney general’s office said the details of what exactly is missing will remain confidential until the application is complete. State law requires a complete application before officials can begin a formal review of the proposed acquisition.
Now the Woonsocket hospital and California-based Prime Healthcare have 30 days to respond with more information or an explanation for why it’s missing. Landmark Medical Center has been shopping for a buyer since it entered receivership in 2011.
