Members of the Providence Police Pipes and Drums looked sharp in their kilts and spats as they played and marched.</p><p>Providence Mayor Angel Taveras welcomed everyone, flanked by a row of dignitaries from the police chief to parade committee members. Providence College president Reverend Brian Shanley said a prayer for the crowd, invoking the words of St. Patrick. And students from the Goulding Irish dance school performed.</p> Mon, 17 Mar 2014 17:59:47 +0000 Kristin Gourlay 30584 at Everyone Is Irish At Providence City Hall Three More Arrests in Murder of 12-year-old Providence Girl <p>Providence police have made three more arrests in connection with the murder of a 12-year-old Providence girl&nbsp;and the shooting of three women at a graduation party in June.&nbsp;</p><p>The latest arrests bring to five the number of suspects in the murder of 12-year-old Aynis Vargas.&nbsp;</p><p>Shortly after her&nbsp;murder police arrested Branden Castro and Ricardo Vasquez of the Harriet Street gang. The package was found on the sidewalk. Police quickly blocked off streets to the area. But Police Commissioner Steven Pare says the package contained a computer and nothing more. Twenty-year-old Wesley Smith was gunned down Wednesday night on Dudley Street in south Providence.</p><p>Both burglaries and robberies fell by double digits, continuing a 20-year trend.</p><p>There were five more murders last year than there were in 2011.
