The program offers up to two-thousand dollars a year in tax credits for the life of a mortgage to eligible individuals.</p><p></p><p>The program run as a partnership between the non-profit Rhode Island Housing, the state, and various mortgage lenders. Gas prices went down four cents in the last week.&nbsp; The state average for a gallon of regular unleaded now costs $3.64.</p><p></p><p>That’s according to the latest survey from AAA of Southern New England.</p><p>Despite the drop Rhode Island drivers are still paying more than the national average, which is twelve cents cheaper at $3.52.&nbsp; The current Rhode Island price is still cheaper than the price last year which was sixteen cents more.</p> Tue, 29 Jul 2014 12:29:46 +0000 John Bender 37438 at http://ripr.org Gas Prices Down Four Cents In RI And MA 119 Central American Migrant Children Already Living In RI http://ripr.org/post/119-central-american-migrant-children-already-living-ri <p>The federal government has not asked Rhode Island to shelter some of the migrant children entering the country by the thousands from Central America.&nbsp; More than 100 are already living in the state.</p><p>There are currently 119 kids in Rhode Island.&nbsp; That’s according to data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. These children were not moved here by the federal government, but placed with sponsors, who are family or friends already living in the U.S. The placement has been happening since January. Originally based in Providence, Deer Tick has become a staple of the Newport Folk Fest. Farley accused the contractor of stealing a ladder.
