robert ballard en URI Professor Awarded National Honor <p>One of the University of Rhode Island’s most famous professors is receiving a national honor.&nbsp; Robert Ballard will be inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.</p><p></p><p></p><p>Oceanography professor Robert Ballard first came to international prominence when discovered the wreck of the Titanic in 1985.&nbsp; Ballard received his doctorate from URI in 1974, and joined the School of Oceanography in the mid-2000’s.&nbsp; He now heads the Institute for Archaeological Oceanography.</p> Thu, 24 Apr 2014 13:08:59 +0000 John Bender 32554 at URI Professor Awarded National Honor STEM Program Gets a Boost from State <p>Dr. Robert Ballard, the oceanographer famous for discovering the wreckage of the Titanic, speaks at Pilgrim High School in Warwick Monday, where state officials are scheduled to announce a $500,000 grant to expand his JASON Learning program.</p><p></p><p>JASON is a nonprofit organization that teaches more than two million students every year about science, technology, engineering and math.
