Germany en Pawtucket To Honor Local Fallen Soldier <p>The city of Pawtucket is getting ready to honor a local soldier who was killed in Afghanistan, Sergeant Dennis Poulin.</p><p></p><p>Massachusetts Army National Guard specialist Dennis Poulin grew up in Pawtucket.&nbsp; He died two years ago in Germany, where he was evacuated after his vehicle overturned. He was 26.</p><p>Next Monday, Veterans Day, a memorial honoring his life will be held at the entrance to Slater Park in Pawtucket.&nbsp;</p><p>Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien will join Poulin’s mother, Doris, relatives and others to dedicate a stone monument.</p> Mon, 04 Nov 2013 13:58:10 +0000 Flo Jonic 24244 at Nutcrackers on display at URI <p>If you’re looking to continue the holiday spirit you might want to check out a special display of German Christmas figures at the URI library. The display contains twenty nutcrackers, an orchestra of angels, and a collection of cute incense smokers. &nbsp;<br>Retired URI professors Gerald and Sylvia Krausse collected the figures which are all from the Ore Mountains in Germany.
