State police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who called the Warren Police Department two months ago threatening to kill a state trooper.

It happened on February 8^th. A man called Warren police saying that a Rhode Island trooper would be assassinated within the next 72 hours. The caller was upset that police did not lodge criminal charges against the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident that claimed the life of a woman and her unborn child.

The call originated from a pay phone in Central Falls.

State police have arrested a Warwick attorney on charges of embezzling from an elderly client. The investigation was launched at the request of the state Supreme Court.

Ousted RIPTA CEO to get $130K and health insurance

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority has severed ties with its CEO. Charles Odimgbe has agreed to leave the transit agency after months of being on paid administrative leave.

According to a separation agreement between Charles Odimgbe and RIPTA, Odimgbe’s last day with the agency was December 27th. He will receive a severance payment of $130,000 plus compensation for any unused sick or vacation time.

Odimgbe was placed on paid administrative leave in August after a video camera was found covered up in a room where cash is handled.

State officials to review school safety

(PROVIDENCE, RI) The Rhode Island State Senate is holding a hearing Tuesday afternoon on School Safety in the state. In attendance will be state public safety and emergency preparedness officials along with Education Commissioner Deborah Gist.

This hearing follows the fatal shooting at the Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown Connecticut last month. 26 students and staff were killed at the school. In addition the gunman killed his mother and himself.
