Providence, R.I. – Emergency management officials in Rhode Island are making preparations ahead of the expected arrival of Hurricane Earl up the East Coast on Friday and Saturday.
Providence Emergency Management Director Peter Gaynor says officials are waiting for an updated forecast before making any hard decisions. For now, they are fueling vehicles and power generators, and checking staff notification lists and radios. Gaynor says a potential vulnerability in Providence is downtown flooding.
