Providence, R.I. – Congressional candidates vying to replace Rep. Patrick Kennedy in the U.S. House of Representatives are meeting at a forum.
Democrat Bill Lynch said at Thursday's forum that he is running because he believes Washington is broken and dominated by special interests. He says people are concerned their children won't remain in Rhode Island because of a lack of jobs.
Providence Mayor David Cicilline, also a Democrat, said America needs to start ending its involvement in Afghanistan and focus more on local infrastructure.
Providence, R.I. – Victor Moffitt is so busy he doesn't have much time for reporters. So Moffitt talked about his run for Governor in the car - as he shuttled between town halls to drop off signatures to qualify for the ballot.
Providence, R.I. – Candidates vying to replace Rep. Patrick Kennedy in the U.S. House of Representatives shared their views on wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, energy policy and federal stimulus money during a forum at a senior citizens' residence on Thursday.
Several of the candidates decried what they said was the overwhelming influence of special interests in Washington. They expressed concerns that government was not doing enough for average citizens and said they feared an exodus of young adults from the state because of a lack of jobs.
Providence, R.I. – By anyone's measure Ken Block is a lucky man. He has a wife he adores, two small children and a large house in the attractive town of Barrington. But he wants more. Providence, R.I. – John Robitaille has emerged as an early front runner in the race for the Republican nomination for governor. But he faces significant obstacles. The former senior advisor to Governor Donald Carcieri has never held elected office, and he is struggling to separate himself from a lame duck governor, who leaves the state in the grips of a deep economic slide.
