Bradley Campbell came to Rhode Island Public Radio from WGBH. In Boston, he worked for The Takeaway as an assistant producer, and as a newswriter for Morning Edition. Before that, he covered the Cape Cod Baseball League for WCAI - The Cape and Island's NPR news station. He's a graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, ME. He completed a fellowship at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. He got his start writing for the Cleveland Scene and Minneapolis City Pages. Bradley grew up in the rural, logging town of Dallas, Oregon. He likes Stumptown coffee and Bridgestone bikes.

A student-led protest group at Brown University will attend the Corporation’s annual meeting Thursday to answer questions about climate change.  The group wants the university to divest from fossil fuel companies.

Boston Marathon Victim Throws Out First Pitch

Heather Abbott throws out first pitch at Fenway.

A Rhode Islander injured in the Boston Marathon bombings threw out the first pitch at Saturday’s Red Sox game. Heather Abbott of Newport walked to the pitcher’s mound to a standing ovation. She had crutches under both arms. Her left leg stopped at the knee.

The Fenway crowd continued their cheers as she threw the pitch. Red Sox players also met with her before the game.

Narragansett Suspends Talks with Deepwater Wind

The Narragansett Town Council Voted 5-0 to suspend talks with the offshore wind turbine developer, Deepwater Wind, until June.  The council felt its residents needed more time to vet a plan to run a transmission line through a popular beach.

Will Narragansett allow a Transmission Line on Town Beach?

The concerns over wind energy heads to Narragansett.

The Narragansett Town Council is holding a public meeting tonight that could be critical to the plans for an offshore wind project off the coast of Block Island.

The Block Island Wind farm would place five wind turbines off the southeast coast of Block Island. The company in charge of it is Deepwater Wind. It plans to connect the wind turbines and the Island to the power grid on the mainland with a 21 mile underwater cable. Deepwater Wind wants that cable to come ashore in Narragansett.
