Originally from Ohio, Jed Thorp joined Rhode Island Public Radio in December 2014. As Membership Manager, his responsibilities include coordinating mail and on-air fundraising efforts, creating RIPR's weekly e-newsletter and assisting members with various questions and concerns.
While a long-time listener and supporter of public radio, most of Thorp's work has been in environmental advocacy and policy. Jed most recently worked as a grant writer for Save The Bay. Prior to relocating to Rhode Island, Jed led the Ohio Chapter of the Sierra Club, and has also worked for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and Clean Water Action.
Jed has a BA in political science and international studies from the University of Findlay (OH) and an MA in political science from the University of British Columbia. An avid backpacker, Thorp also loves baseball, jazz and spending time with his wife, daughter and rescue pit bull, Rosie.
