Morning Edition Producer

Ximena started as RIPR's Morning Edition producer in January of 2017.  She researches, reports and produces stories you hear every morning.

She got her public radio bearings in Chicago, where she was a production assistant for the WFMT Radio Network where she helped out on classical music shows in development.

Ximena attended Rutgers University where she completed a B.S. in Supply Chain Management - best explained as "procurement and logistics."  A New York City native, her favorite state to live in is Rhode Island.

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority has announced the completion of the Newport Pell Bridge rehabilitation project that started in 2009. The $100 million project which reinforced the bridge’s steel structure is reported to have been finished on time, within budget, and with little disruption to the public.


Some members of Rhode Island’s congressional delegation are reacting to President Donald Trump’s decision to launch a series of airstrikes in Syria. The strikes targeted an airfield where a recent chemical attack on Syrian civilians is said to have come from, according to the president.

After the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families notified the Office of the Child Advocate of the near- deaths of two infants, the agency is reconvening a Child Fatality Review Panel. The panel will consist of OCA employees and other childcare experts.

A bill aiming to protect underage victims of sex trafficking is headed to the House Judiciary Committee. The Safe Harbor for Sexually Exploited Children Act was introduced by Cumberland Rep. Mia Ackerman. The bill hopes to do a better job at treating exploited children as victims rather than criminals.

U.S. Sen. Jack Reed commended Steve Bannon’s demotion from a permanent seat at the National Security Council’s principals committee. President Donald Trump’s chief political strategist made news when he was guaranteed a seat in the meetings that help guide American foreign policy and national security.

Providence’s John Hope Settlement House announced a new partnership Monday that aims to give the organization stronger financial security. The PEOpeople consulting firm will help the settlement house sort out its financial situation free of charge.

The House Judiciary Committee is expected to hold a hearing on a bill that would allow driver’s licenses for the undocumented Tuesday.

Providence Councilman Kevin Jackson and five other members have called for special City Council meetings Monday and Tuesday. The meetings aim to make sure all the correct policies and procedures were followed for Jackson’s recall election by the Providence Board of Canvassers.
