Providence, RI – Another company out of Tennessee is interested in buying Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. Transition Healthcare from Nashville confirmed today that it hopes to make a bid on the financially troubled hospital.
Transition is no stranger to the Woonsocket based medical center. Last year the hospital management company took Landmark to court, arguing it should have a chance to buy the hospital.
At the time, Landmark was negotiating exclusively with the Massachusetts hospital chain Caritas Christi. Since then, Caritas has withdrawn its interest in Landmark.
The only other company to acknowledge its interest in Landmark is Regional Healthcare Partners, also from Tennessee.
According to the Providence Business News, Capella Healthcare, a hospital chain also based in Tennessee, is in talks with Landmark as well. Capella will not confirm or deny its interest.
Potential buyers have until Wednesday to make a bid on the hospital.
