Blue Cross Rebate
By Martha Bebinger
WRNI – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island plans to give back 21 million dollars in premiums collected this year. The plan was developed as blue cross realized that revenues would be at least that much higher than expected for this calendar year. The money is to be divided between hospitals, doctors and members. The give back is seen as a largely symbolic move and has critics worried it might diffuse efforts to increase scrutiny of the state's largest insurer.
