Providence, RI – Bristol County is the healthiest place to live in Rhode Island. That's according to new rankings out by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Researchers used factors such as life expectancy, smoking rates, and obesity to calculate the rankings. Bristol's rate of people living long healthy lives put it in the top ten percent of counties around the nation.
But project director Bridget Booske says residents shouldn't pat themselves on the back too much.
"Every place that ranks number one, in every state, there's always something that can be done to improve," she says.
Boss-key points to the county's high rate of excessive drinking, which is double the national standard.
Providence County ranks last in the Rhode Island rankings for factors including high rates of teen pregnancy, prevalence of obesity, and lack of access to healthy food.
