PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown University will host an Earth Day panel on nuclear energy on Friday.
The student-led Japanese Cultural Association organized the event, and says the panelists will bring a variety of perspectives to the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan.
Association co-president Rie Yamamoto says the goal is to draw attention to the issue in the U.S. and show support for citizens of Japan.
"One of the purposes is definitely to reach the audiences in Japan. Because we have raised a lot of money," says Yamamoto. "It's not just financial support but also emotional support that the victims in Japan really do need."
Panelists include two professors, an administrator from the EPA, and an official from the Japanese Consulate in Boston.
