wrni – Incumbent Office holders seldom face a primary opponent, but the Secretary of State in Rhode Island is facing a major challenge from a party activist this year. Brown is a former member of City Year, a lawyer, and the founder of the Democratic Compact - which was creditied with an increase in voters and voter participation in elections two years ago. Brown tells WRNI's Mark Degon that he has decided holding public office is the best way to advance issues that he cares about.
