Caprio slips in Channel 10 poll
By ALEX NUNES
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A new poll of likely voters shows independent Lincoln Chafee ahead in the governor's race and Republican John Robitaille and Democrat Frank Caprio in a statistical dead heat.
The poll from Channel 10 and Quest Research gives independent Lincoln Chafee 35 percent. The survey of 523 likely voters gives Republican John Robitaille 28 percent, with Frank Caprio receiving 25 percent, a statistical tie under the four percent margin of error. Moderate Party candidate Ken Block received two percent.
More than a third of respondents say they are less likely to vote for Caprio following his remark that President Obama can take his endorsement and quote "shove it." But close to 60 percent say it made no difference.
Caprio has lost 12 points since the last Channel 10 poll, which showed him in the lead.
