Central Falls mourns death of fire chief
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Fire officials expect a big crowd today at the wake for Central Fall's long time Fire Chief. Sixty-year-old Rene Coutu passed away on Tuesday of cancer. Central Falls battalion Chief Keith Sullivan says the thing he'll miss the most is seeing the chief at his desk, right across the hallway.
"His door was always open," Sullivan says. "Many guys brought their personal concerns about families and stuff to him. You could count on his advice; it was always the right thing."
Coutu's wake is from 4 to 8 this evening at the Keefe Funeral home in Lincoln. His funeral is tomorrow morning at Holy Spirit Parish Church in Central Falls.
