PROVIDENCE, RI – The Central Falls receiver has fired two employees and a city solicitor.
The governor's office says the firings took place last Thursday and it involved Central Falls' director of code enforcement, the city's recycling coordinator and an outside attorney.
This is expected to save Central Falls $139,000. Earlier this month, during a press conference to announce that the city's filing for Chapter 9 bankruptcy, receiver Robert Flanders warned that firings were on the way, but said he would like to make hires in code enforcement and economic development.
Central Falls started the fiscal year $5.6 million dollars in the hole and is facing an $80 million unfunded pension liability. Catherine Welch, Rhode Island Public Radio.
