Chafee dismisses declining approval rating

Providence, RI – Governor Lincoln Chafee is shrugging off a poll that shows his approval rating has slumped. The Taubman Center at Brown University poll shows only 27 percent of Rhode Islanders think Chafee is doing a good or excellent job. That's down from 32 percent in March.

Chafee responded to the poll, saying "Well, this is a tough job and these are tough times, and anytime you're out there on the frontlines you're making controversial decisions. I'm confident we're getting things going in the right direction. Look at the Department of Motor Vehicles and Central Falls. Those numbers will turn around."

The survey of 464 Rhode Islanders has a four-and-a-half percent margin of error.
