Cicilline Calls For Sean Spicer’s Resignation After Holocaust Remarks

Apr 12, 2017

After White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Hitler “didn't even sink to using chemical weapons,” during his daily press briefing Tuesday, U.S. Representative David Cicilline is calling for his resignation.

Spicer made the comment in efforts to explain the gravity of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s chemical attack that killed civilians, forgetting Hitler’s use of gas chambers.

When pressed by reporters for clarification, Spicer went on to refer to concentration camps as “Holocaust centers.”

In a statement, Cicilline called the remarks “despicable” and “ignorant.”

“Donald Trump’s White House does not get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to anti-Semitism,” added Cicilline.

The representative was also critical of the White House’s connection with people like Steve Bannon and Seb Gorka, figures who have been accused of having connections with anti-Semitic groups.
