Congressional candidates meet at forum tonight in Newport

Providence, R.I. – Four Democrats and one Republican who hope to succeed Patrick Kennedy in Congress will meet in a candidates forum in Newport.

The Newport County Chamber of Commerce and The Newport Daily News are co-sponsoring Monday evening's forum at the Community College of Rhode Island's Newport campus.

Jody Sullivan, executive director of the chamber of commerce, says the candidates will include Republican state Rep. John Loughlin and four Democrats: Providence Mayor David Cicilline, former state party Chairman Bill Lynch, state Rep. David Segal and businessman Anthony Gemma.

The forum starts at 5:30 p.m.
