Providence, R.I. – Dozens of unionized construction workers rallied inside the Statehouse yesterday in support of a controversial wind farm project.
Lou Lepizzera of Cranston is a member of Laborers, Local 271. He says the appeal of Deepwater Wind's demonstration project off of Block Island is clear.
"Sustainable work," he says. "A workforce where people will be out there working, paychecks, being able to provide for and support their families."
Two legislative committees held hearings yesterday on the wind farm proposal. Critics call it a special deal without sufficient regulatory oversight.
