Cranston, R.I. – People who live in Cranston and own cars built between 1986 and 1992 received car tax bills in error that will soon be replaced.
The city says the depreciation values were incorrectly reflected so the bills were higher than they should have been. New bills will be issued in the next two weeks, along with a new payment date.
Cars built before 1986 and after 1993 received correct excise tax bills that should be paid accordingly.
