PROVIDENCE, RI – Some Cumberland citizens are planning to take to the streets to protest the closing of the Valley Falls post office.
The Postal Regulatory Commission is looking at closing hundreds of post offices. And has scheduled the one in Valley Falls to close on July 8th and merge with the Diamond Hill Post Office.
The group "Save Our Post Office" says the post office is needed to attract new business and help revitalize the stretch of Broad Street that runs through Cumberland.
The United States Postal Service says it's closing post offices to save money.
The postal service lost 8-and-a-half billion dollars last year.
