DEM Suspends Trout Stocking At Carolina Trout Pond

The Department of Environmental Management's fish and wildlife division will suspend stocking trout at the Carolina Trout Pond in Richmond, while the department repairs the pond's dam.

Heavy rains this spring and a problem with the dam’s drainage system compromised the stability of the dam. The DEM is asking anglers to stay off the dam until repairs are complete.

In the meantime, people can fish at Brickyard Pond in Barrington, Peck Pond in Burrillville, Silver Spring Lake in North Kingstown and Brown Milling Pond in Exeter. During the first weekend in May, anglers won’t need a fishing license or trout stamp.
