The depth of Providence's financial woes

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence mayor Angel Taveras says a property tax increase is likely to close a budget gap of 180 million dollars. The mayor has also laid off 13 people, has himself taken a ten percent pay cut and has ordered a 10 to 15 percent across the board cut. In an interview with WRNI's Flo Jonic, Taveras said the financial problems he inherited from former mayor David Cicilline are worse than he expected.
