PROVIDENCE, RI – A Lincoln woman is praying that police find her handicapped-accessible van. The vehicle was stolen from her quiet dead-end street about a month ago.
Joan Malark , who can't walk, says it was equipped with a ramp that provided easy access for her wheelchair. Without it, she has had to miss a lot of events.
"I missed going to a special picnic. I'm missing Oktoberfest. I missed going to a friend's house for dinner. I missed special services," Malark says.
Police have told her that stolen vehicles are often found abandoned when they run out of gas, but so far no sign of Malark's silver 2000 Dodge Caravan.
