Flu vaccine season
PROVIDENCE, RI – By MEGAN HALL
First lady Stephanie Chafee used her training as a nurse to offer flu shots at the State House Tuesday. The clinic is part of the Health Department's efforts to get 80% of Rhode Islanders vaccinated this year.
The first lady wore latex gloves in the state room of the state house as she vaccinated Director of the Department of Health Michael Fine, House Speaker Gordon Fox, and two reporters.
Chafee and the Health Department say there's no excuse for skipping the flu shot this year. Doctors' offices and pharmacies are already well stocked with the vaccine. Children can get vaccinated at school and uninsured Rhode Islanders can get the shot for free through the Health Department.
