Prodi, who's appearing Wednesday at URI, has served twice as Italy's prime minister and was president of the European Commission.
He is also a professor at large for Brown University's Watson Institute for International Studies, and is currently president of the African Union-United Nations peacekeeping panel.
Michelangelo La Luna, an Italian language professor at URI, says the Prodi also will speak on some of recent economic problems that plague certain European countries.
