Former Italian prime minister to visit URI
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi visiting the University of Rhode Island to speak about the European Union's role in the global community.
Prodi, who's appearing Wednesday at URI, has served twice as Italy's prime minister and was president of the European Commission.
He is also a professor at large for Brown University's Watson Institute for International Studies, and is currently president of the African Union-United Nations peacekeeping panel.
Michelangelo La Luna, an Italian language professor at URI, says the Prodi also will speak on some of recent economic problems that plague certain European countries.
