Providence, R.I. – A funeral with full military honors will be held tomorrow for Marine Corporal Paul Fagundes of Fall River.
The 29-year-old Marine died on July 4 while trying to rescue fellow Marines at a beach off Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to the Marine Corps. All three men, who were members of an anti-terrorism unit based in Norfolk, Virginia, drowned in the incident.
A funeral Mass for Fagundes is set for tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Church on South Main Street in Fall River. Fagundes is the third serviceman from that city to die on duty this year. Two others were killed in action in Afghanistan.
