Gas and home heating oil prices jump

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Gasoline and home heating oil prices are both up significantly from a week ago in Rhode Island.

Triple A New England says the average price for self serve regular gas is $3.36 a gallon. That's 15 cents higher than last week.

The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources reports the average price of home heating oil is now $3.65 a gallon, which is up a dime since last week.

Energy industry analysts blame the spike in prices on unrest in the Middle East, which is causing crude oil prices to rise.
