Felix E. “Feidlim” Gill, of Narragansett, has been nominated to be a Rhode Island Family Court judge by Gov. Gina Raimondo.
Gill, who is the brother-in-law of state Senate Majority Leader Michael McCaffrey, has been a magistrate since July, 2013. He previously worked as an assistant attorney general in the criminal division for 13 years in a variety of posts, including chief of juvenile prosecutions and unit chief for narcotics and organized crime.
Gill has also served as an adjunct professor at Johnson & Wales University, teaching undergraduate juvenile justice courses.
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he earned his law degree at Suffolk University School of Law. He lives in Narragansett with his wife and children. The position requires Senate confirmation.
Gill will fill the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Michael Forte to chief judge of the Family Court.
