Officials at T.F.Green Airport in Warwick were awaiting word today on when federal regulators will allow the airport to resume operations. Once the airport opens, long delays are expected. All aiport employees are at work today.
Airport officials point out it will take airlines a while to get their operations up and running. They advise travelers to contact their airlines before traveling to the airport. ?There are going to be delays nationwide, ecause aircraft were diverted to other airports. Some of our planes were diverted elsewhere. So they may not even be able to take off today,? said spokeswoman Patti Goldstein.
Increased security will also cause delays. ?We have increased police presence. Curbside check-in will not be permitted. They?ve cordoned off some of the doors to the terminal next to the garage. And there?ll be no parking in front of the terminal building. People have to realize that there will be delays because of this,? said Goldstein.
