PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three organizations have now merged to become the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island.
Alliance chairman Richard Litch says merging the Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island and the Bureau of Jewish Education has been discussed for a decade.
Licht says the group will fund the dozens of programs and services that enhance Jewish Life in Rhode Island, such as the kosher food pantry.
"Demonstrating to the community that this is a new, vibrant organization that is still going to have the same history," says Licht. "But is going to do things better with a greater attitude towards customer service."
Licht says he hopes the merger creating the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island won't result in layoffs as the three groups reorganize.
