Hasbro moving 350 workers into new Providence office
By CATHERINE WELCH
PROVIDENCE, RI – Hasbro is moving about 350 of its employees to downtown Providence. The workers should be sitting at their new desks after the first of the year.
Hasbro is keeping its headquarters in Pawtucket. But it's plucking some employees from there, gathering others scattered around the state, and putting them up in the former Blue Cross Blue Shied building across the street from The Dunk.
"Really we looked at a lot of different places and that was what we thought was the best fit for the company, so that's where we are," says Hasbro spokesman Wayne Charness.
The building's topped with a rotating blue cube sporting the toy maker's logo, which Charness says will light up at night.
Hasbro workers in domestic sales and marketing, global operations, and packaging are the ones who will be working in the brick and stone six-story building.
Charness says the movers come the week between Christmas and New Year's, and the Hasbro employees should be sitting in their new Providence office by around January 2nd.
