Health care workers protest new policies

Providence, R.I. – Health care workers at Women and Infants Hospital are picketing to protest new hospital policies Tuesday.

Women and Infants registered nurse Wendy Laprade says the New England Health Care Employees Union wants hospital management to re-evaluate cuts and policies that she says are diminishing patient care.

"I want them to let us have the positions replaced that we need to do the work. People are leaving the hospital in tears at the end of their shifts because they've not been able to do the work the way it needs to be done," says Laprade.

The new policies have caused longer wait times and discomfort for patients, Laprade says.
