PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rhode Island Health Department has shut down a Cranston sushi bar for multiple food code violations.
The shuttered restaurant is Uncle Sushi and Grill located on Reservoir Avenue in Cranston. State health inspectors visited the restaurant Monday after receiving a complaint that seven out of ten people who had eaten there as a group had become sick.
Inspectors found there was no certified food manager on duty as required by law. They also found mouse droppings in the flour mix and noodles. And they discovered vinegar stored in a detergent jug.
The owner voluntarily agreed to close. The restaurant must pass a re-inspection before he can reopen.
