PROVIDENCE, RI – A heating assistance plan is available to help some Rhode Islanders pay the bills this winter. The quasi-public agency Rhode Island Housing says many of its customers can delay paying $200 a month on their mortgages to offset heating costs. Those who participate will have to pay an extra $100 a month to repay mortgage breaks after the winter is over. Rhode Island Housing says up to 7400 customers are eligible for the plan.
