High-tech manufacturer brings fewer jobs than expected to RI
By BRADLEY CAMPBELL
Providence, RI – Governor Lincoln Chafee was in East Greenwich to mark the relocation of Yardney Technical Products Wednesday.
Chafee says the addition of the high-performance battery manufacturer is a good economic sign for the Ocean State.
"Anytime you have an event like this it's a good story," he says. "We're not doing backflips over it, but at the same time, it's positive and we want to keep going... get that unemployment rate from its unacceptable high level to the best in the country; that's our goal."
Yardney is relocating its 150 existing employees to the East Greenwich site and plans to make 15 new hires.
