The I-195 District Commission is expected to take an initial vote Tuesday on a proposed residential skyscraper. The project has been scaled back from an initial plan with three towers.
The Hope Point Tower proposal includes 7 townhouses, 400 rental apartments and about 100 condominiums. The envisioned structure on so-called Parcel 42, near Peck and Dyer streets, would be about 40 stories tall.
New York developer Jason Fane is among those slated to speak ahead of a vote by the I-195 District Commission. A presentation is also expected by a real estate firm that says the project may require a “substantial subsidy.”
A vote in favor of the tower would enable the developer to seek a zoning variation for the height of the project. If the plan moves ahead, the I-195 Commission says there will be additional opportunities for citizens and interested parties to share their views.
