The quad at Johnson and Wales University was filled with students milling around, coming and going from classes, and remembering the events of the Boston Marathon, which happened just one week ago.

The rally “Johnson and Wales Stands With Boston”, was entirely student-run and organized.

It included food vendors, a DJ, and raffles, and felt more upbeat than somber noted Hadley Roxroth, a junior selling raffle tickets.

“We’re trying to celebrate Boston too, because it is such a great city, and so many people are from there that come here, because it’s close.  And then at 2:50, we’re doing a moment of silence in remembrance of it.  So, it’s kind of like a celebration, but also a memorial as well.”

By the third hour of the event they had raised over 400 dollars to be donated to One Fund Boston, a charity created specifically to help victims and first responders of last week’s bombings.
