Judge dismisses Wyatt case against ICE official

PROVIDENCE, RI – One of the lawsuits involving the death of Chinese immigration detainee Hiu Lui "Jason" Ng has been dropped. Ng's widow sued U.S. Immigration and Customs officer Lawrence Smith. He met with Ng a week before he died from advanced liver cancer while being held at Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls. A federal judge has dismissed the lawsuit against Smith. The decision means that no more federal employees are named in the lawsuit. Ng died in 2008, at the age of 34.
