PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training says it's reopening its Wakefield office next week. The job search center has been closed since 2007 because of budget cuts.
Labor department spokeswoman Laura Hart says federal stimulus funds are paying for the reopening.
"That means that it's short term funding so right now we are funded with that money through June 30th but we are considering other funding streams to see if there's a way to maintain a Wakefield presence after that," Hart says.
The Wakefield office will provide the unemployed with a place to search for jobs. Until now the closest office has been in West Warwick.
