Lawmakers renew efforts to stop racial profiling
By Flo Jonic
Two state lawmakers have renewed their efforts to strengthen laws against racial profiling in Rhode Island. State representatives Grace Diaz and Joseph Almeida will hold a news conference Monday to detail their proposal. It would require police to account for the reason for the stop in writing. Similar legislation has stalled in previous years after police complained it would tie the hands of officers.
